Sport is very much part of the culture and history of Brisbane. There's a whole host of international, national and local training and sporting facilities for a myriad of sports including Rugby, Soccer, AFL, Cricket, Netball, Tennis, Swimming, Lawn Bowls, rowing facilities along the Brisbane River and every other sport known to people-kind. There is also a number of bike paths, ovals and parks for sporting enthusiasts.
National games are hosted in Brisbane throughout the relevant season with many people attending and getting involved, supporting their local Queensland team.

Brisbane Sporting Venues
Suncorp Stadium is home to the Brisbane Roar (Soccer), Queensland Reds (Rugby Union), Brisbane Broncos (Rugby League) and a few times a year the Queensland Rugby League team go head to head with 'The Blues' from New South Wales in the State of Origin. You might also be able to grab a game between the Australian Rugby team the Qantas Wallabies play in the Rugby Tri Nations Series, the Bledisloe Cup. There are stadium memberships which you can buy and own your own seat.

The Brisbane Cricket Ground (the "Gabba")
These grounds are affectionately named The Gabba and is a 42,000 seat oval sports venue. The Gabba is home to the Queensland Bulls and hosts national and international cricket matches and is also home to the Australian Rules Football (AFL) team the Brisbane Lions. Cricket and Footy enthusiasts can become members of The Gabba so they an enjoy year round cricket and AFL.

Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre
The Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre (QSAC) is home to two international standard running tracks, a 2100 seat Athletics facility, 48,5000 seat main stadium and an eight court beach volleyball complex known as 'The Beach'. Athletes part of the Queensland Academy of Sport train here and the centre plays host to many elite meets a year.

Brisbane Sporting Organisations & Clubs
Anyone can joing the wide range of sports competitions, classes and services provided by UQ Sport in their beautiful grounds next to the Brisbane River.
